One Picture

I decided to use one of my favourite pictures that was sent to me by one of my close friends. It was originally black and white and they colored it in using Photoshop. When I first saw it, I was breath taken by it's symbolism, and my instant interest in it. I draw many things, and if something is visually appealing to me, then I'll like it no matter what. The way my friend used colours to enhance the meanings of the picture is what really gets me.

As you can see, it is a picture of a man who seems to be a vampire. He has his eyes covered by his hair, meaning that he is lost or isolated from the world. The sight of fangs make me think that he is not afraid to defend himself. He has obviously been through a lot, seeing as to how his heart is bleeding. Heartbreak is devastating for some people, and not so much to others. I admire how he seems to be calm through all of the pain. His wearing of a suit gives it a very mature, and adult look to it. It is interesting to see that he has wings, through all of the other devilish things. He could be described as a "Fallen Angel" possibly, because he know dwells in darkness, where he once had been good. The fire on his wings show that the wings are being burned away and his past is causing him to be destroyed. Finally, he treasures that one last kiss on his cheek. Although it bleeds, it is a reminder of what he once had.

This picture means all this to me, and more. I truly am inspired by how simplistically beautiful it is, in a dark sort of way. Appreciate it a lot Eddie.

My Weakness

Of all of the bad things about me, the one I would say would most likely bring about my tragic death, is procrastination. I leave things that would be better done earlier to the last minute. For example, although I'm not typing in desperation, this blog is being done right before my teacher reads it, therefore I am a dum***s. Not only in school related things, but almost anything that I can avoid doing for a while, I put off. It's tragic that I however do not put off things that are fun, such as going out, making plans for the Magical place that is Wonderland, or birthday parties. Why can't I do the same with this kind of stuff? The truth is, because it's not enjoyable. (This does not include doing this blog, I am rather enjoying it =D)

As you are bound to witness in the near future, I become King of all the Bountiful lands of the world. Under my careful watch and generous nature, the world flourishes to a level of greatness and prosperity, such that has not been seen in, like, ever. So, there I am, playing the great old game of golf with my buddies who rule separate, though smaller lands. Fate arrives in the form of one of my henchmen who do my bidding. She arrives skipping amongst the daffodils in all her queerish glory. "Sir, (salute) there is reports of a meteor siting 3000 miles above us heading for earth in exactly 35 minutes. You must alert the Meteor-Stopping Association (MSA) at once to stop this before it destroys us all!" says Jasmine.

I lift my platinum shades, and with the air of one who is calm and collected, reply... "I'm kinda busy you know? I'll get to it, let me just finish my game off and head in for a quick nap. Be sure that it will less than 35 minutes." She protests, but I head home. Basically, I fall asleep and don't wake up in time. Therefore, the whole world blows up, and there goes life as we know it. All due to my procrastination. Actually, that rather scares me, I should work on that right away..

On Fate

I believe that fate has a lot to do with what goes on in our world. This does not however mean that it controls us to an extent where we can't think for ourselves. Some people in history used fate as the cornerstones for everything they did, believing that history was already charted on some divine map, and that whatever they did was all part of "The Big Plan." It is understandable that in such harrowing times, religion and belief were some of their only escapes from society's firm grasp on their lives.

Of course, I am talking about people living prior to the 19th century. This is reflected in many of the great English author Shakespeare's literature. In Romeo & Juliet, we witness the two "star-crossed" (meaning destined) lovers fall in love and ultimately die for each other, all of which is described by others as destiny. Fate (them believing it was a being) had meant for it to happen, therefore it did. People around this time believed in it so fiercely that any person who went against it was labeled by the Catholic Church as sacrilegious. Fast forward to the 21st century and we find millions of people freely expressing their disbelief of fate, and others who strongly believe in it.

I, personally, am a follower of the Islamic Faith, therefore I was raised to believe in Fate to a certain point. My religion does not, however, harbor belief that we can't choose our own path in life. I came to a conclusion after many experiments. Yes, similar to a scientist, I've tested many theories to life in practical, and often stupid ways. In all honesty, I can control everything I want to do, can't I? I once quietly whispered to God "Haha, you can't control me..." I admit that's quite a bad thing to say, but hey, it was for experimental purposes. But sometimes, don't you just wonder how, you do something maybe you shouldn't have, and it comes back to bite you in the ass? Is that fate?

For example, in one of my experiments, in grade 9 Science, I once knew this guy named Harris Naseem. So then Harris bet me 50$ that he would get a higher mark than me. So comes the day of report cards, I narrowly beat him, getting a 30% higher mark. He actually brings me 50$ the next day. In disbelief, I quickly grabbed it, and ran home. Once I come home, I reach into my pocket, and where is that $50? GONE!

Coincidence, or something more? ...Probably me being stupid again. =)

A Radio Advertisement- Ford Fusion

After much debate, my partner Rick Doolsingh and I decided to bless the eardrums of listeners all over with our divine and holy voices. Rejoice, I will be reposting it here. ( Listen to Here In Your Arms, By HelloGoodbye while you read it).

Tired of going down to the station?
Kick back, relax, take a vacation
Can't deal with all the frustration

{Song} (I like where we are, When we drive,
in your car, I like where we are.... Here...)

Then I saw it; the Ford Fusion
First I thought it was an illusion
Vroom, it was an intrusion
Of my thoughts, surrounding me with confusion
And in conclusion,
Don't be stupid, get a Ford Fusion

Ford, Get in and Drive.

The Anatomy of a Couch Potato

Everyday, things occur in our world that out of the ordinary. When they do, the money-seeking scavengers, dubbed as The Media scamper to publicize whatever happened interestingly, creatively, and above all, first. Why do we follow the lives and stories of bizarre and rare things so closely? Well, for that very reason; they are so bizarre and interesting that people just have to take a step back from their own lives and bask in the hilarity that bumbling celebrities and mindless reality television give us.

My take on the phenomena that is reality TV, is that people find the chance to observe other "real" people partake in things they would normally consider to be embarrassing, or tough a fun way to pass the time. Of course, challenges that test their minds, nerve, sexual prowess,
the number of roses one can pass out in an hour in between commercials, sky diving abilities, sheep-intestine swallowing capacity, and a host of other such everyday tasks would be a sin to miss.

It must be the fact that people enjoy seeing others in situations that are dangerous or unnerving in real life give them a feeling of excitement. A voice in their head tells them- "This is real life, this isn't scripted or directed or anything, it must mean I'm finally getting real production value!" when in fact it should be echoing "These people are just targeting the things that we want to do, but cannot do, to gain our money, why am I wasting my time?"

In the end, we continue our lives, having acquired a few chuckles and a few afterthoughts to how the person on screen managed to stomach 20 worms in a matter of seconds. Why do we scrutinize people like Britney for EVERY goddamn thing she does. As I watched TMZ surround Britney's car like a pack of hounds, rolling off the front window while snapping pictures and barricading her so she could not reach the exit of the gas station, I wondered: "WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE DOING WITH YOUR LIVES?" Ultimately, I can't stop people from wanting to share quality bonding time with their television in the form of
a bowl of potato chips and pointless news and trivia that does themselves no good, it is their life being wasted after all.

Food for Thought.

Me!

Ah hoy hoy! How about a little intro to brighten your day? My name isn't spoon in real life, it's actually Sadequr Rahman-Ali. I am in fact NOT a piece of cutlery, contrary to popular belief. It isn't as frightening as it looks to pronounce, you simply say "Sad-e-kur".

Ahem... well, I am living the dream, being a 16 year old and all. This involves tipping cows in my spare time, saving whales from the various dangers of greenhouse gases, and occasionally alerting the CIA to the whereabouts of overdue tax-payers. In my spare time, I enjoy playing croquet with Ralph Lauren, yelling "meet my little friend" to Al Pacino to his annoyance, and owning n00bs at everything, i.e games, life, etc.

Coming across me at the mall, you will most likely find me making silly faces and rude yet fair jokes at unsuspecting food munching individuals whilst eating KFC and strategically ducking behind my Chicken Bucket box to their confusion and my friends' approval.

Anyhooligans, this blog is to help you get acquainted with my interesting self, and perhaps just learn a thing or two... Join me as I pursue the quest for enlightenment and a satisfactory English 11U mark; if you follow my instructions on how to go about life carefully, I see a bright future ahead for you.

Ciao for now,

~sp00n
